Why Thinking Matters

The importance of Christian Apologetics to the modern Church

By Rodney Lake – National Director, Thinking Matters NZ Foundation

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Christianity is under attack!  Attacks on what we believe are increasing in number and in boldness, and the Church is losing the battle for the hearts and minds of the nation. As followers of Christ we must be prepared to defend what we believe.
There are so many – both Christian and non-Christian – who struggle with doubts and many tough questions that previous generations haven’t had to deal with.  These intellectual roadblocks are the “arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God” which can prevent people from truly understanding and responding to the Gospel.
Are you able to respond graciously to the questions and doubts people struggle with?  This is the work of Christian Apologetics.
