Soul of the City
Welcome, haere mai, and greetings church family.
If someone were to ask you “what is the most significant event that has impacted your life- journey to date”, I wonder what your answer would be?
Growing up in Samoa for the first eleven years of my life formed my cultural roots and identity. Then migrating to New Zealand in the 1970’s is an event that impacted my life with so many blessings, more than I could ever imagine. I have a second home here, providing me with a lifestyle far superior than my country of birth. I have been blessed with great educational opportunities and experiences, and I met my wife here and together have raised our four children and now have ten grandchildren. All these experiences have supported my formation today. But the most significant milestone that has transformed me as a person in my attitude and purpose for living, has been the call of God to be His follower. It happened at a church Family Camp, and the speaker was the New Zealand artist Graham Braddock.
After sharing the story of the Israelites standing at Kadesh Barnea and looking across to the Promised Land the Lord had promised them, the speaker stopped still, then asked the audience if anyone wanted to move across to the Promised Land by receiving Jesus as Lord and Saviour. I stood up and went to the front. This was the significant moment, this is the event that so impacted my life and I praise God for it. I encourage you to take stock and take time to reflect on a significant event in your life where God has manifested His presence. In the midst of today’s turmoil remember God has been faithful in the past and He will be faithful today and in the future . Give thanks and praise to Him for His goodness and love.
Romans 8:38 “Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” – This is a reminder we can all do with, every day!
Have a great week!
Blessings, Mercy, love, and peace be yours in abundance
