I am the Way, the Truth and the Life - Jesus
Last Saturday Felicity and I attended a family 21st birthday party in Wellington. We had a lovely time catching up with families and friends that we had not seen for sometime because of the restrictions enforced by Covid. What made it even more special was the opportunity to lay hands on and pray for this young man, as he makes his way in the world. This was probably the first time he had ever had this happen to him. I praise God for this opportunity to share our faith and God’s blessings.
Samoa has a proverb “ O au o matua o fanau” that literally translates:
“Samoan parents view their children above all”.
It is a perspective that is often not spoken about, but you can observe it in family get togethers such as funerals, weddings, church fellowship and special celebrations. You can see the importance of this relationship in the Samoan culture. This reminds me of how God sees me as his child. In Galatians 3 verse 26 God says ‘in Christ Jesus I am a child of God through faith”. Romans 8:14 says:“those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. As a child of God I have been gifted with the Spirit that does not make me a slave to fear; rather, the Spirit I received brought about my adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Holy Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children”.
What a privilege we have that the Creator of the Universe loves us so much to call us son and daughter in Christ. (John 3:16) Amen! Hallelujah!
Take a minute to ponder God’s view of you as His son and daughter in Christ.
Have a great week!
Mercy, love, and peace be yours in abundance
